Premier League Darts - Week Five: Exeter
On the eve of the UK Open, all but Mensur Suljovic will be making the short trip to Minehead straight after Thursdays action!
Gary Anderson v Rob Cross - H2H Anderson leads 3-0
With Anderson as BIG as 6/4 and Cross 13/8 implies the bookmakers really cannot call this with the draw at a lower than usual 7/2 at 100/30.
Both players come into this after points on the board last week. Anderson’s comeback from
6-3 earned a draw in a 105 average at the close of play last week. Cross saw off Barney with some ease silencing some critics after a shaky start to the campaign.
The majestic Anderson with recent back issues has not visually looked affected but Anderson is a great professional at the best of times. With the fast pace of the pair expect this to be a 20 minute cracker and see appeal in the game going the full twelve legs at 11/10 with William Hill.
Hills have a #yourodds market on checkouts and take evens on two or more 100+ checkouts. I see this having mileage as both competitors games last week experienced at least two three-figure checkouts and could well be a shrewd bet to consider.
Daryl Gurney v Peter Wright - H2H Wright leads 11-7
Daryl Gurney’s toll on the Premier League debut season is not going well. A 7-2 defeat was partially down to scoring pressures. Gurney to his credit has four wins straight since last August, but form has gone in different directions with Wright’s remaining consistent and Gurney’s with need to sharpen up.
Wright’s heavy odds on price sees him between 55-60% to win the game throwing second, so layers have this well covered. Superchin is no bigger than 19/20 for most 180’s and with some uncertainty over whether Snakebite has tweaked his set up and the fact he will be defending his UK Open title over the weekend could be a distraction!
Gurney has 17 maximums to Wright’s 10 so Blacktype at 19/20 or Matchbook at 20/21 for most maximums is worth a play.
Michael Smith v Raymond van Barneveld - H2H Barney leads 7-5
Michael Smith has really made another Premier League shot work for him! Bullyboy who has won four out of four to top the table on this unbeaten run, whilst Barney started promising but has slumped to two consecutive really disappointing defeats in which he was back to the old Barney with slumped shoulders and regular head shakes.
The head to head is 7-5 in favour of Barney which shows Smith is not a pushover in this match-up, and on current form you cannot hold much faith in Barneveld.
The value here on stats sees Smith play 42 legs and bag 12 maximums and Barney 45 legs and 10 maximums. The combined average and the line sees Betbright punt 5/6 on fewer than seven maximums. Barney failed to net a maximum last week whereas Smith netted five but the week before was without a maximum. I feel this may be edgy and therefore willing to take a small punt!
